Michelle H. Nguyen

Hi, I'm Michelle, and I'm a 6th (and final 😊) year PhD candidate in Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.

I am advised by Dr. Casey Overby Taylor in the Translational Informatics Research and Innovation (TIRI) Lab @ Johns Hopkins University.

My research focuses on integrating data science solutions into clinical systems through stakeholder-engaged methods. Specifically, I design and evaluate clinical natural language processing (NLP) algorithms and consumer-facing conversational agents to make healthcare information more accessible and actionable. By combining knowledge-constrained generative AI with participatory research practices, I aim to create practical, human-centered AI tools that mitigate potential harms and maximize clinical utility for both patients and providers.
